PARKLAND PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB
In 1986 two Tisdale residents decided to start a club to promote the art of photography. Because membership was open to a wide geographical area in northeastern Saskatchewan they decided to call it the Parkland Photography Club.
Thirty-one years later the group is still going strong, averaging 10 to 15 members every year. Members come from a diverse background with varying skill levels but we enjoy sharing what we know and learning from each other.
Our regular meetings consist of learning components, theme shoots, and various other activities. Monthly theme subjects are decided ahead of time, and then members try to encapsulate the idea in a photograph. The learning components might be a presentation from a guest speaker, a member, or the internet. Additional activities have included photo shoots, attendance at activities put on by other photography clubs, and participation in photography contests. Additionally, Parkland Photography members have displayed photos in both Tisdale and Melfort. We have a permanent showing at the Tisdale Healthplex with new pictures going up every four months, and regular displays at the Tisdale Library.
Monthly meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of every month, excepting July, August and December. Fees are $35.00 for the entire year. If you are interested in photography and want to learn more about the Parkland Photography Club you can call or text Cory at (306) 886-7545 or Cindy at (306) 920-7783. New members are always welcome!
